Mini Motocross Bike For Your Kid

If your kid is pestering you to get him a motocross bike, why not compromise and get him a mini moto cross, instead? A mini motocross bike is intended for kid’s use. It is expectedly smaller and has less power than the normal motocross dirt bikes that you see on the road, but basically all the working parts and features are the same.

Popular Kids Motocross Bikes

Kids dirt bikes have become very popular through the years. Anywhere in the world, thousands of mini dirt bikes are sold to young bikers year in and year out, despite the fact that some of these motocross bikes come at a huge price. In fact, the price of those 125cc pit bikes is over $2,000. If you are not willing to spend that much money on a kid’s dirt bike, you can choose one that has an engine power of only 110cc or less because this you can get for only $200 to $600.

Buying Cheap Cross Bikes

Nonetheless, there are several ways you can find cheap dirt bikes. One is to search downtown for dirt bike shops. Try to avoid the higher end stores if possible unless those stores are on a sale. Bike shops downtown usually have cheaper rates because they don’t have to pay much for their overhead expenses. On the other hand if there are bike sale events, take time to go to one. Prices of mini moto cross bikes are often markedly reduced during a bike sale.

There are also used dirt bikes for sale that are still of good quality. If you do have to go for a second hand dirt bike, find out how long the bike has been used and if it has been through an accident already. You need to extract the whole truth from the owner, so don’t be afraid to ask questions. In many cases, it is wise to have an expert go over the used dirt bike to see if it is, indeed, still in road worthy condition, and worth the money you are paying for. Remember, your kid’s safety is at stake here.

Riding Mini Motocross Bikes

There is practically no age requirement to be able to ride a mini bike or pocket quad, but obviously your kid must be old enough to maneuver the dirtbike. Also, never allow your kid to go out on a mini motocross bike without proper training and knowledge of the safety measures that he or she has to take. Keep in mind that dirt mini motos, though small, are still considered motor vehicles, and as such they are subjected to the same road rules and regulations as any motor vehicle. Mini cross bikes can run a speed of up to 75mph, and the wearing of helmets is an absolute must.

You can encourage your kid to join dirt bike competitions. In the United States there are so many competitions specifically for kids between 4 and 15 years old. Competitions are a great way for your kid to show off not just his motocross bike but his skills on the road. These are also great avenues for your kid to make friends.
